Personal Background: Emily Blincoe is a photographer and she is from Austin, Texas. She splits her time between living in Nashville and Austin. She loves to travel with her dog Eleanor. When she was about 22 she bought herself a point and shoot camera. She started to take photos as a hobby and to save memories of her life. She slowly started to use her camera in a more creative way. Later, she bought herself a first full frame camera. Her hobby had turned into an obsession and she decided to work as a photographer full time.
Style: Emily Blincoe loves taking photos of arrangements. It started our by her just taking pictures of small things that she was visually interested in. She started her arrangement series by just gathering random objects and putting them onto a grid. She mainly takes pictures of food and candy, but also random household objects. She makes sure that the objects are organized neatly onto the grid.
Philosophy: Emily Blincoe takes pictures of whatever feels right to her (personally). She loves to capture and find the beauty in ordinary objects. Her purpose of taking photos is to document little moments and small details in objects. Color always plays a big part of her photos. From colors in food to colors in objects, the color sets the tone of her images.
Influences: Emily Blincoe has influenced me in a major way. From her work I learned that taking pictures of simple objects and food can actually be very visually interesting. I looked for food and objects similar to the ones she used in her photos. Her idea of organizing them onto a grid has inspired me to do the same with my photos. The organization and neatness in her work is a technique that I will continue to use and it has inspired me to do the same with other pictures.
Compare and Contrast:
Photo 1- The first image I chose from the photographer was the toothbrushes one. Emily's picture looks more zoomed out, where as my picture looks closer to the objects. That makes the objects in my photo look bigger than hers. The toothbrushes in Emily's photos are also around the same size, giving her picture a nice and balanced look. Where as the toothbrushes in my picture range from different sizes. However the way I organized the toothbrushes in a similar way like she did.

Photo 2- The second image I chose from the photographer was the one with the cookies. Emily's photo is more shinny. Her cookies are also more closer together. I chose to show the cookies in the same style as her. Her background color is also more visually interesting than my background color.
Photo 3- The third image from the photographer was the one with the eggs. She used eggs with more colors. I decided to make it more simple and and used only two colors. However I organized the eggs in a similar way like hers. But her background color is also more visually interesting in this one.
Personal Statements:
Photo 1- I decided to take a picture of toothbrushes that belong to the people that mean a lot to me. Each toothbrush represent a person in my family. Some of the brushes are old and represent memories. Some toothbrushes are used for different reasons. But in the end, they all belong to the same family.
Photo 2- I decided to take a picture of two different kinds of cookies that I put together. There is the chocolate cookie that represents my sister. Because she is a girl scout and it's a girl scout cookie. The biscuit cookie represents my brother. Because everyday he makes sure he gets to eat one of those biscuits.
Photo 3- I decided to take a picture of two different kinds of eggs. These eggs also represent two different people in my family. My family means a lot to me. The regular white eggs represent my mom because in my opinion she makes the best meals with eggs. When I was younger I remember watching her crack the eggs into the frying pan. The organic eggs represent my grandmother. Because she loves to eat everything organic. Sometimes my family joke about that.
